A Little History
I remember clearly being in Menlo Park Mall and picking up my very first copy of the original printing of the soft cover Vampire the Masquerade rulebook. I flew home as quickly as my legs could pedal my mountain bike and tore through the rulebook in a matter of hours. I remember sitting there, thinking to myself, "damn that's a lot of ten sided dice!"
After my initial shock died away at the possibility of having to roll dozens of ten sided dice, and another trip to a local gaming store to acquire them, I began to delve into the possibilities of this Gothic-Punk genre. Within a week we had our own little role playing group converted and dedicated to exploring the emerging World of Darkness, and with each gaming supplement and play session my lust for it only grew. At that time, I happened to be involved in a Live Action game called LAIRE.
Some of you might have heard of, or even enjoyed playing at it. I remember thinking to myself something along the lines of, how hot would it be to play Live Action Vampire! Then of course White-Wolf published the Mind's Eye Theater rules, and I could only shake my head and wonder in awe what they were thinking when they turned their system into a game of rock-paper-scissors. A few years, Larps, and games latter I would understand the magic and awe of Vampire Larping.
For two years in central Texas I played in the local Vampire Larp before the then residing storyteller retired the story to my partner in crime Houston and myself. We ran a game we called Shadows and Light for another two years, until we too were retired it into hands more capable of the time and dedication the players needed.
I along with the gorgeous and wonderful Kristen started and ran Phoenix Rising a larp based out of central New Jersey for about 8 months before that folded do to moves, job changes, and my inability to get a competent staff, or actually anyone other than Kristen.
The Here and Now
Blood on Satin is my current work of interactive fiction. I've gotten a few people on board that I'm really excited about and we are going to start hammering out a plot that will weave webs of gothic tragic horror, and personal despair.. Our goal and mission is to create a live action gaming experience that leaves you stunned and wishing the game had not ended that night..
We want you to be pounding your head thinking in trepid anticipation what you will do the next event, and wisely ponder the expenditure of each of your characters resources and abilities..
We hope as you climb deeper into the storyline we weave that you drag your friends, relatives, and would-be acquaintences along with you into the downward spiral and to the final realization of the monster you and your character have become.
