Character Creation for the Blood on Satin LARP is slightly different then the standard World of Darkness and Vampire: The Requiem character creation.

Characters in the Blood on Satin LARP may be of two varieties, Mortal or Vampire.

Mortal Characters are playable by anyone and do not require a pre-approved background to begin play, provided they do not have any abilities that flag them for special attention from the staff. Mortal Characters may not posses any supernatural abilities or knowledge of such, at the time of creation, nor may they work for any Government or Law Enforcement agency.

Vampire Characters are playable only with a pre-approved background. The turn around for this process is up to two months, depending on the nature of the background itself. During this time the Storyteller staff will work with you as quickly as possible to integrate your character completely with the Blood on Satin LARP world. Not all backgrounds are playable however and the Staff reserves the right to reject any background they feel does not fit the game. Vampires Characters may not work for any Government or Law Enforcement agency, nor be affiliated with any organization that requires a direct presence during the day.

If you have any questions feel free to contact the staff.

The Character Creation Process itself is detailed below:

1. Select Attributes, your character’s innate capabilities:

Prioritize the three categories (5/4/3).

Your character begins with one dot in each Attribute automatically, already filled in on the character sheet.

Dots spent now are in addition to these starting ones.

The fifth dot in any Attribute costs two dots to purchase.

A Starting character may not have more than one Attribute with a rating of 1.

2. Select Skills, your character’s learned capabilities:

Prioritize the three categories (11/7/4).

The fifth dot in any Skill costs two dots to purchase.

A Starting character may only have one skill that is higher than three dots before experience is spent.

3. Select Skill Specialties, your character’s focused areas of expertise:

Take three Skill Specialties of your choice.

You can assign each how you like, whether each to a separate Skill or all three to a single Skill. There is no limit to how many Specialties can be assigned to a single Skill.

MORTAL CHARACTERS SKIP TO STEP 5

4. Add vampire template:

Determine what Clan your character belongs to.

Determine what Covenant (if any) your character is a part of.

Choose which of your Clan's favorite Attributes to gain a bonus.

Assign Discipline dots, at least two dots must be devoted to a character’s clan Disciplines. One dot may be spent on an Out of Clan or Bloodline Discipline.
Determine starting Blood Potency. Characters begin play with a 1 Blood Potency, they may raise this to a 2 by spending 3 Merit points or a 3 by spending 6 merit points.

Note: A Character must qualify as a Bloodline before spending any Dots on a Bloodline Discipline.

5. Determine advantages, traits derived from your character’s Attributes:

Defense (the lowest of Dexterity or Wits)

Health (Stamina + Size)

Initiative (Dexterity + Composure)

Morality (7 for starting characters)

Size (5 for most humans)

Speed (Strength + Dexterity +5)

Willpower (Resolve + Composure)

Virtue/Vice (choose one of each)

6. Spend remaining Merit Points

For a (mostly) complete list of merits please check the merit subsection under characters which should be available on the menu to the left.

Clan and Covenant Status may not start at a rating of more than 2 Dots.
City Status is unavailable at this time as the city does not have a formal structure.

7. A Character may lower their Starting Morality by up to 2 points. This requires all the normal degeneration rolls, each point they lower their Morality by gains them 5 experience points.

8. Spend starting experience points.

9. If your Character and background are approved Storyteller Staff will then spend up to 25 experience points on your character to balance them into the city.
